SONA 2015: State Of The Nation's Air
Being an advocate of environmental protection, I really like the efforts of Coalition of Clean Air Advocates Philippines (C-CAAP) and the United Healers League of the Philippines, Inc. (UHLPI) to create awareness and education campaign about the importance of having a clean air and healthy environment.
Last July 25, 2015, in anticipation of the much awaited President Ninoy Aquino's State of the Nation Address 2015, a congress was held at the Bahay ng Alumni Building at U.P. Diliman, Quezon City campus to debate on PNoy's action to address the Clean Air and Climate Change issue in our country.
The event dubbed as "SONA 2015: State Of The Nation's Air" was attended by various Non-Government Organizations. Some of the highlights were:
"What has the AQUINO government done in the past five years for CLEAN AIR?", says CCAAP Chairman Atty. Leo O. Olarte, MD during his speech.
CCAAP President Herminio Buerano Jr in his speech declaring the dirty state of air in our nation and asking President Benigno S. Aquino lll - " Mr. President do you have a heart for CLEAN AIR?"
CCAAP Trustee Secretary Enrique Ona, MD outlining the crucial need for a massive information and education campaign to achieve a CLEAN AIR PHILIPPINES.
CCAAP Trustee Senator Joey Lina appealed to the delegates on the CLEAN AIR issue...“It is not enough that we see the truth and what should be done to find the solution to our problems. This is not just for us to feel good. We should act and do what must be done,”
On the other hand, traditional, alternative and complimentary medicine practitioners from all over the country were also present during the congress to conduct their healing (literally! because there were free traditional hilot and massage service during the event) in connection to their advocacy towards "True Healing of our Beloved Philippines”.
The event also graced by the healers through various healer organizations to join the ever growing coalition of sectors united in the cause for clean air and climate change abatement.
On why the healers are involved, Mr. Joey Gutierrez, National President of the UHLPI says, “Respect for nature is a common principle all healers share, so they are perfect ambassadors for clean air. Besides, go to any barangay and you will find a hilot, albularyo, Spiritist kurandero (healer), babaylan or whathaveyou. Healers are everywhere, so they can bring this advocacy everywhere.”
The event was a success and ended up with a commitment pledge through a symbolical "TREE PLANTING CEREMONY" in commitment to promote clean air and greener future.
Ano nga ba ang nagawa ng gobyernong PNoy sa kanyang termino tungkol sa Clean Air and Climate Change issue?
Malalaman natin bukas sa kanyang SONA 2015!
