Baclaran Church Ash Wednesday Schedule 2015

Another season is about to come for us Catholics – the Season of Lent. It is the season of penance, reflection, and fasting which calls us to prepare for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

This is not a typical post on my blog but I’d like to share this to my fellow Filipinos to be guided in the preparation of this holy season.

Ash Wednesday marks the first day (out for 40day-fasting) of the Season of Lent. According to Catholic.org, Ash Wednesday is following the example of the Nine Vites, who did penance in sackcloth and ashes, our foreheads are marked with ashes to humble our hearts and reminds us that life passes away on Earth. We remember this when we are told:

"Remember, Man is dust, and unto dust you shall return."

Ashes represent the penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice. To start the preparation for the Season of Lent, we are called to participate in this special occasion as we enter into a new season of enduring temptation.

To help everyone be guided in this season, I decided to make a phone call to Our Mother of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church in Baclaran and validate the Ash Wednesday Schedule. Their pastoral ministry representative told me that the schedule of the Ash Wednesday will be the same as the regular Wednesday Novena:
